On History.com we read that nearly every four years, we add an extra day to the calendar in the form of February 29, also known as Leap Day.  This keeps the calendar in synch with the heavens. This year 20/20 is a leap year.

I am sure this means a lot to those who are born on this day.

They get to actually celebrate their birthday on their actual date of birth instead of choosing the day before or after or not at all. Birthdays can mean a lot to some and not so much to others.  The CDC tells us that nearly four million babies are born in the US every year.   Just think one year you were among those millions.  We can spend all day talking about how awesome that is and how amazing you must have been, but I digress.  Let’s just say ‘you were born.’  Let’s stay right there for a moment.  You were born and now where ever you are in your life you have existed as a human being.   But it is really more than that.  Right?

Your body consist of trillions of cells.  One cell is the basic living unit of the human body (Source: https://www.britannica.com/science/human-body).  Our bodies with its levels of organizations are beyond wonders.  Medical studies continue to research the workings of our bodies.  Let’s not take for granted our existence on this earth. Sometimes we are not even aware of how we contribute to society or to someone else’s life.  Our actions can be interpreted in ways well beyond what we anticipate. Even though we may not have played a part in being born, we can play a big part in how our lives play out.  We can leave a legacy.   Especially if you have children or loved ones.  Let the day you were born mean something to somebody.

Take some time to stop and smell the roses, pick some, and give them away.  Pamper yourself and appreciate how resilient your body is and recognize how important it is to take care of yourself to be around for others.

However, you choose to celebrate your date of birth, be inspired.  You have great capabilities of higher thinking.  You can master many things.

You can be gentle and kind yet bold and stern.  You can reason and be silly.  You can love and forgive.  You are human. You can change the world just by being you.
